Landia and Midland Slurry Systems ready to go the whole hog

Ahead of its presence at the 2018 British Pig & Poultry Fair (May 15 & 16), Landia has secured a new order to supply mixers for a leading pig farm that breeds, raises, feeds, butchers, and sells pigs and pork products.
The 18.5kW Landia units will mix unseparated pig slurry in a covered, above-ground 4000m3 tank (27.4m diameter, 7m height).

Landia, who will be represented at the Fair by Midland Slurry Systems, has also won an important new order to supply stainless steel mixers to a large poultry plant in the West Midlands, where previous equipment had failed due to corrosion.

For the customer, a major supplier to supermarkets, the installation of the 4kW, 1500rpm mixers will also introduce much-needed air into the process to eliminate odours.

Established in 1985, Midland Slurry Systems specialises in the supply and maintenance of industrial and agricultural waste-water treatment installations and animal slurry management. Based in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, the company offers a complete turnkey service, right through from planning to installation, commissioning, and on-going maintenance.
At the venue for the 2018 British Pig & Poultry Fair (The National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh Park), Midland Slurry Systems installed a Landia chopper pump to keep control of slurry at one of the UK's leading livestock markets.

The 7.5kW Landia DG pump feeds a separator at Rugby Farmers Mart (based at Stoneleigh). Owned and run by farmers, the state-of-the-art market runs every Monday (and seasonal Fridays), with around 3,500 to 4,000 prime lambs, ewes, fat cattle and calves for sale.

Continually removing solids and discharging the treated wastewater during almost two and a half days of the post-market clean-up operation, the Landia chopper pump replaced a unit from a different manufacturer that couldn't cope with the solids.
