Launch of New Wireless Compression Loadcell

Straightpoint, the world leaders in the design and manufacture of force measurement, load monitoring and suspended weighing load cells, have just added a new wireless compression loadcell to its range with an industry-leading wireless range of up to 250m/800feet and unmatched battery life of 400 hours, allowing for the calculation of total mass and the centre of gravity on loads up to and exceeding 4000t.

Previously available in a hardwired standard format, the new wireless version has eradicated troublesome and hard to maintain cables, meaning large scale projects can be completed in a fraction of the time and maintenance costs are all but eliminated. In addition, the product's flexibility lends itself to a large number of applications in the mining, energy, defence, heavy rigging, shipping, aircraft and general transportation sectors, previously not considered. For example, typical applications for the product include hydraulic and pneumatic press force verification and calibration, structural testing, aircraft weighing, material force testing, heavy construction pile driving and static or dynamic weighing.

The wireless compression loadcell benefits from Straightpoint's microprocessor based electronics and unrivalled resolution and accuracy. Data transmission is handled by the Straightpoint Wireless system, providing high integrity, error free transmission of data via the latest in IEEE 802.15.4 (2.4 GHz) technology and is capable of a license free transmission range of up to 250m/800feet. The wireless compression loadcell can also be linked up to Straightpoint's wireless accessories, including a wireless signal booster and software packages, allowing for the calculation of centre of gravity, the ability to data log and print reports and allow the simultaneous display and monitoring of up to 24 wireless loadcells on a single PC screen.

Director of Straightpoint, David Ayling added 'Straightpoint is continually looking at innovating, ensuring we are providing high quality solutions for today's load monitoring and heavy lift challenges. The wireless compression loadcell is the latest product innovation. In addition, we have just re-engineered our range of shackle loadcells, including a new design and specification. Previously made to order, we are now able to supply the shackle loadcells next day, which is a bonus for ad hoc projects or last-minute requirements.'

Straightpoint, with offices in the UK and US, supplies crane scales as well as tension and compression load cells to organisations throughout the world through its large network of partners and distributors. For further information visit: www.straightpoint.com
