Loma receives prestigious food industry accolade

Loma Systems, leading UK manufacturer of food inspection equipment, is celebrating having received a finalist prize in the top category of the Food Processing Awards, which took place at the Chesford Grange Hotel in Kenilworth on 25 September 2013.

In front of two hundred attendees including food producers, manufacturers, industry regulators and equipment manufacturers, Loma received the runner-up prize in the fiercely fought 'Company of the Year' category. "Hundreds of voters from all aspects of the food industry nominated Loma as their Company of the Year," comments event organiser and Food Processing magazine editor Chris Shaw. "Loma's focus on meeting customer needs, including rapid delivery of premium equipment within days, their service engineers' achievement in fixing 90% of customer queries first time, and the launch of two new inspection systems in 2013 with excellent detection performance rates, made them a front runner this year," added Chris.

The Company of the Year prize will be gratefully received by Loma's hard working employees: "The company's turnaround over the last few years is because of the changes our staff have implemented," enthuses Managing Director Simon Spencer. "We've worked hard to engage with our entire workforce, putting in place systems that have helped them do their job well and rewarding them with greater job satisfaction. In return, every department has overachieved - this award is a testament to their hard work."

All departments have adopted common business simplification tools, dubbed the Loma 'ToolBox', to improve the way the company operates. This has helped staff to focus on what the company does best, using figures and data to make the business more streamlined, productive, staff engaging, measurable and profitable. The implementation of the ToolBox has seen the company's profitability rise dramatically over the last three years, employee welfare and retention rise from 70% to 95%, and the technical department develop new 'best in class' inspection equipment with industry-leading detection performance. "Loma's a great company to be part of," praises Marketing Manager James Chrismas. "We are grateful to our customers and suppliers that put us forward for this accolade and hope that we continue to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction with our award winning technology and service support," adds James.

Representing the best the food and beverage sector has to offer, the annual Food Processing Awards 2013 honoured a total of 14 companies for achievements including technological development, robotics and automation, packaging solutions, and apprentice of the year.
