Metso to rebuild Solar gas turbine automation in Hollola, Finland

Lahti Energy Ltd. has chosen Metso to rebuild the Solar gas turbine automation at its district heat plant in Hollola, Finland. Deliveries have already started and will be finalized in December 2012.After the rebuild, the Hollola plant will be remote-controlled from the Kymijärvi power plant area, which is located some 15 kilometers away and already extensively uses a Metso DNA automation system. New automation will replace the outdated PLC logic controller in the Solar gas turbine.
In the future, the operators will be able to carry out all functions and diagnostics through one system, which significantly improves plant availability. The delivery also includes overspeed and machine protection.
The communication between the plants will be carried out inside the automation system without a separate remote control system. All information from the turbine can be viewed in the Kymijärvi main control room, which speeds up the troubleshooting of possible defects.
