Uninterruptible direct current power supply with higher output current and
longer backup times


Siemens has expanded its range of uninterruptible 24-volt direct current power supplies. Its Sitop UPS1600 module is now available with 40 A (ampere)output voltage. Also newly available is a 12 Ah (ampere-hours)battery module. The enefits for clients are higher nominal and peak currents and/or longer backup times. A further addition to the range is a highly temperature-resistant 2.5 Ah battery module.

Until now, Sitop UPS1600 has been available with a nominal output current of either 10 A or 20 A. Siemens now offers this uninterruptible power supply with a nominal output current of 40 A. For high inrush currents, the new Sitop UPS1600 features an even higher overload characteristic of up to 120 A in line-fed and buffer battery operation.

New battery modules

The UPS1100 range of matching battery modules has also been extended.

Modules with 2.5 Ah and 3.2 Ah storage capacity are now available to complement the existing 1.2 Ah, 3.2 Ah and 7 Ah modules. The newly expanded range allows for better buffering of high power currents in the event of a power failure.

The 2.5 Ah module has been designed for use in demanding environments and has been combined with a 10 A version of Sitop UPS1600. This 2.5 Ah battery module comprising pure lead storage elements can thereby offer a particularly long service life within an extremely wide temperature range from -40°C to +60°C.
Like the already available 10 A and 20 A variants within the UPS1600 range, the new 40 A version can be supplied with a USB interface or two Ethernet/Profinet ports. This means that Sitop UPS1600 can be integrated into an Ethernet network, for example for PC-based applications, orvia Profinet into a TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) environment.
