MORGAN AWARDED SOUTH EAST INVESTING IN SKILLS AWARD

Morgan Advanced Materials' investment into future talent in engineering, manufacturing and material science has been highlighted with the award of a prestigious regional honour, which has emphasised the company's innovative work in skills development.

The company, headquartered in Windsor, Berkshire, was awarded the South East Investing in Skills Award, sponsored by JAM Recruitment, at the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards event held at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge.

The award recognises a manufacturer that has done the most to build skills, develop employees and harness the talent of its people.

Morgan received the award for its strategy, which identified two developmental needs for the business; one identifying existing employees and the other for recruiting graduates as new talent for the future.

Becky Cund, UK HR Manager at Morgan Advanced Materials said: "The success of the programme lies with the support that the HR team receives from managers and fellow employees. Thanks to them, the programme has been widely accepted and championed across every part of the business. In order to make this work, we collaborate with training providers to understand the needs of the business and the graduates. As a global company-wide programme, the focus has been to ensure that all the sites are working to a consistent, standardised approach."

Sponsor John Morris, CEO at JAM Recruitment said: "As specialist recruiters in all the manufacturing industry, JAM is no stranger to the apparent skills gap. We applaud the commitment and dedication Morgan Advanced Materials has shown to promote the growth of the industry."

The annual awards are hosted by EEF, the manufacturers' organisation, and recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, exports, environmental performance, skills development, health and safety and apprenticeships among UK manufacturers. The national finals will take place on Thursday 30th January 2014 in London.
