new energy chain is reliable in tough environments - Increasing cable life and machine uptime
04/03/2013 igus UK Ltd
Moving cables which are exposed in tough environments can expect a drastic reduction in service life. This poses problems for engineers, such as unscheduled maintenance down time, cable failure and at worst, costly machine breakdown. With the new RX e-tube series from energy chain specialist igus UK, cables and hoses are completely protected. The energy chain has a contoured design that is injection moulded from igus' exceptionally tough igumid G tribo-plastic material and all pin and bore connections are covered. This creates a smooth and completely sealed profile, preventing ingress of chips, dirt, debris or moisture.
For additional support, the RX e-tube is available with customised guide troughs that guide long travels of the energy chains, and interior separators to hold the cables and hoses in place securely. This prevents any unwanted movement, wear and damage. An "RBR" reversed bending radius version is also available for two-dimensional and rotational movements.
Suitable for dynamic applications in the machine tools sector and areas that are exposed to chips, dust and dirt, the standard IP40 sealed energy chain is available in a variety of sizes. Specific cable carrier requirements can also be obtained by entering the parameters into the product finder program located on the igus website.
