Eberbach, Germany, 7th February 2013 – Cooper Crouse-Hinds, a leader in electrical products that provide safety, productivity, innovation and labour savings in hazardous, industrial and commercial environments, has launched a new range of high power LED pendant light fittings that are suitable for use in Zone 1 and 2 hazardous gas environments and Zone 21 and 22 hazardous dust environments. The new LPL LED pendant light fitting incorporates a high power (10-30W) white COB (chip on board) LED array, which provides longer life and higher efficiency. The LPL LED (60-150W power rating) is ideal for replacing 70-250W metal halide (MH) lamps. The LPL LED is Exd protected (IP66) with a copper-free aluminium housing and a heat and impact-resistant glass bowl.
Permissible ambient temperature for the standard 60W/85W/100W LPL LED (6000K cool white) is from -35 deg C to +50 deg C (T6 rating). For the 125W and 150W versions, permissible ambient temperatures are from -35 deg C to +40 deg C. A 3300K ‘warm white' version is also available for special environments such as fog or smoke. Under appropriate ambient temperatures, the LPL LED provides more than 50,000 hours' expected operating life.
The LPL LED is suitable for a wide range of hazardous areas, including applications in heavy industrial, chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, shipyards, dockyards, power generation, paper mills and wastewater treatment.
The standard 6000K cool white LPL LED includes five optional power ratings: 60W, 85W, 100W, 125W and 150W. These are designed to retrofit the following MH light fittings: 70W/100W, 150W, 175W, 175-250W, and 250W respectively.
The LPL LED comes with a standard U-shaped mounting bracket for ceiling and wall mounting. Optional pole mounting accessories are also available.
