New LED signal tower element with seven colors

The new multi-colour LED element of the PSD signal towers from Phoenix Contact enables signalling of machine and system states with up to seven colours.Selection of the colours red, yellow, green, blue, white, violet, and turquoise is via the three control lines. In comparison to five-level signal towers, two less digital outputs are required, and when compared to three-level signal towers, one less digital output is required. The multi-colour element, which can be used universally, also reduces storage costs, as optical elements in various colours do not need to be kept in stock.
The LED technology offers low energy consumption as well as a long service life of 50,000 hours. The latter reduces maintenance costs in comparison to optical elements with light bulbs, which need to be replaced more often.
