New partnership for electrical choke supply

Supply, installation and repair specialist, CP Automation has expanded its product portfolio with its new stock of chokes from transformer manufacturer, Block. The latest range of AC line chokes, motor chokes and multi-tap chokes are now available globally to machine builders and systems integrators, to mitigate harmonics, reduce voltage surges and ensure motor longevity in electrical systems.

CP Automation's new stock consists of three different types of choke manufactured by Block. This includes the LR3 range, which is a collection of AC line chokes engineered to minimise mains pollution and reduce surges in the electrical system. The components in this range work by creating a magnetic field when current flows through, which increases the opposing impedance against the current and acts as a buffer for surges and harmonics.

The MR3 motor choke and SFB sine filters will improve the level of protection available for motors. For motor applications that use long cables, such as bore hole pumps, or multiple motors connected to one variable speed drive (VSD), opting for the MR3 range will mitigate voltage overshoots that occur due to the length of the cable. Similarly, the SFB range will improve power quality, ensuring a longer lifespan for the motor.

For machines built for use overseas, CP Automation also stocks the USTE range of multi-tap chokes. By using a product from this range of transformers, machine builders can easily design a system with components at 230 volts. They then have the option to simply change the input tap of the choke to suit local voltage once the part has reached its end destination. Machine builders can benefit from the protection of the choke, wherever the part is used in the world.

"By partnering with Block, CP Automation has ensured that chokes are readily available for industry professionals." explained John Mitchell, global sales and marketing director at CP Automation. "Not only do these products provide exceptional protection against overvoltages and harmonic distortion, but the wide range of Block's chokes means that whatever the configuration of an electrical system, there will be a choke available to protect it."
