NEWEY & EYRE CHARGES AHEAD WITH FIRST NEWLEC EV Charging OFFER

With the popularity of electric vehicles (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) continuing to accelerate at a rapid speed, Newey & Eyre has added its first range of EV charging units to popular own brand, Newlec.

The Newlec range of EV charging solutions has been designed to charge any electric vehicle and any application - whether it is a residential, commercial or public charge point, or if the charging point is to be wall mounted or ground mounted. More so, each unit has been designed for easy installation - giving contractors direct access to a choice of charging solutions to service the growing EV market.

For domestic users, the Newlec Wall-Pod: EV Ready unit provides the ultimate low-cost, future proof solution. This innovative charger not only charges in Mode 2 format but doubles up as an outdoor IP65 rated domestic 13amp maintenance socket, while being easily upgradeable to the full Mode 3 fast charging format.

Equally innovative, the new Newlec EV SecuriCharge is a wall mounted heavy duty, hard wearing, vandal resistant EV charging unit specifically designed for public facing and exposed commercial locations. Available in 1way and 2way, 32amp (7.2kW) single phase charging versions and featuring Type 2 IEC 62196 charging sockets: Mode 3 IEC61851-1 compliant communication protocol, SecuriCharge is compatible with all the leading manufacturers' electric vehicles.

The range also includes the versatile BasicCharge EV pedestal, ideal for a variety of commercial locations, including private car parks, offices, shops, cinemas, leisure centres, warehouses and schools. The unit is easy to install and comes with both 1way and 2way 32 amp (7.2kW) single phase charging, as well as Type 2 IEC 62196 charging sockets. For a more durable option, the heavy duty AutoCharge EV pedestal, also available from Newlec, has been designed for use in commercial and public-facing environments , and has 2way 32 amp (7.2kW) single phase charging, and comes complete with built in overload and fault current protection.

The different payment methods for users have also been taken into consideration, with both free-to-charge and pay-as-you-go operated wall mounted and pedestal charging units available in the range to suit every application.

Kevin Norman, senior product marketing manager at Newey & Eyre, said: "The rate of EV adoption has started to take off. In fact, recent figures indicate that sales of alternatively-fuelled vehicles, such as EVs and PHEVs, rose by over 40 per cent in the UK last year, gaining the largest ever market share for the sector to date.1

Naturally, this growing popularity has, in turn, seen a rise in demand for electrical installers who are adept in the installation and maintenance of charging infrastructure - proving a lucrative new revenue stream."

He adds: "As a company dedicated to staying ahead of the latest trends and developing the right products to support our customers, our new range of own brand EV chargers means contractors now have one designated place to always get the best product for the job in hand.

"From sector-specific EV solutions through to niche accessories and EV charging equipment, the Newlec offer boasts everything a contractor starting out on the path to EV could need along the journey."
