NiPERA Appoints Dr Mike Taylor to Toxicology Team

The Nickel Institute is pleased to announce that its science arm NiPERA has appointed Dr Michael (Mike) Taylor, a Board Certified Toxicologist, to the position of Toxicologist.Dr Taylor will provide expertise on toxicological science associated with nickel exposures and human health. He will work in conjunction with the Executive Director, Senior (Health) Toxicologist, and other Environmental and Human Health Toxicologists to strategically plan and implement a long-term research program for NiPERA.
Dr Taylor joins NiPERA from Afton Chemical Corporation in Richmond, VA, where he was a health toxicologist and served as Manager, Toxicology and Environmental Sciences. He was the primary manager of a research program funded by Afton investigating the health effects of inorganic manganese (Mn), with which he has been involved in since 2004.
Before that, Dr Taylor conducted independent research regarding the toxicological effects of the metal constituents of welding fumes as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in Morgantown, WV.
Dr Kevin Bradley, Nickel Institute President said, "Dr Taylor's background in metals research, research program management for an essential transition metal and his experience with coordination across associated industries will allow him to make a valuable contribution to NiPERA."
