NITROUS FERTILISER PRICES REMAIN HIGH DESPITE FALLING FUEL PRICES - LIQUID FERTILISER TANKS ENABLE BULK BUYING SAVINGS

Falling fuel prices. International gas prices falling by about 27 per cent compared to last year's prices. Yet nitrogenous fertilizers continue to remain high, according to Herald Scotland. With gas accounting for around 60 per cent of ammonia's production costs, AN (ammonium nitrate) and urea values seem to be remaining pretty much the same.Spot crop and milk-farm gate-process might be down, but the average price for AN is close to £270/tonne for branded products which is around £10 up on last year's mid-season prices. In addition, urea prices also remain firm at around £280 and seem to be rising as spot demand for it is currently greater than global supply.
Spot demand can be eased somewhat should farmers adopt the practice of storing large volumes of liquid fertiliser in dedicated liquid fertiliser tanks. In capacities up to 30,000 litres, pre-mixed fertiliser can be stored indefinitely for when demand is high.
