NORGREN BIDS FAREWELL TO INDUSTRY STALWART AFTER FOUR DECADES OF FLUID POWER EXCELLENCE

Norgren, a global market leader in pneumatic motion and fluid control technology, has paid tribute to one of the UK fluid power sector's best-known faces as he retires after more than four decades in the industry.

Mike Singlehurst was one of the three founding partners of Northamptonshire-based distributor BL Pneumatics in the mid 1970s. Since then BL has become one of the longest standing and most loyal distributors of technology from Norgren, helping to deliver Engineering Advantage in the food & beverage and industrial automation sectors.

Norgren marked the occasion with a special presentation to Mike by Jonathan Corns, Head of Norgren Express - UK and Keith Stephenson, Distribution Sales Manager for Norgren Express.

Mike first came into contact with pneumatic products during his apprenticeship with a Northampton-based shoe machinery manufacturer. He then worked for Cox & Wright, another pneumatics distributor, before setting up BL Pneumatics with Horace Barnett and Dick Leslie in 1974. The company received its first stock from Norgren in 1975 and since then has supplied many millions of Norgren products to UK industry.

Mike now plans to spend his time pursuing his passions of music, travel, fine wine and food, as well as getting involved in charity work and improving his golf.

Jonathan Corns commented: "Mike has become a familiar face in the pneumatics sector with BL having established itself as one of our premier UK distributors from humble beginnings in the mid 1970s. He'll be very much missed, not just by us at Norgren but by the legions of BL customers who have benefited from his knowledge and expertise over the years."

Mike Singlehurst added: "It's been a fantastic journey and a real pleasure to work with a recognised industry leader like Norgren for so many years. The market has of course become increasingly competitive with new players entering from the Far East, but there will always be a strong demand for products from Norgren because of its commitment to quality, innovation, service and adding value to customers."
