Parker extends its SMH/SMB servo motor range with ultra-compact 40mm frame- delivering even more flexibility to packaging machinery and robot applications

Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has recently introduced a 40mm size to its highly-dynamic and compact SMH/SMB Series brushless servo motor range. The 40mm variant not only extends the torque capability in its smallest size starting from 0.19 Nm, but also offers a high degree of flexibility to food processing, packaging, robot and handling machinery OEMs due to an extensive range of motor frame configurations and options.

In response to market trends the motor's dimensions have been considerably reduced offering significant advantages in terms of specific torque and dynamic performance. When compared to traditional-technology brushless servo motors the specific torque is approximately 30% higher and rotor inertias are extremely low. This makes it especially suited to highly dynamic applications.

With the addition of the SMH40/SMB40 the widely regarded SMB series of high quality servo motors is now available in sizes from 40 mm to 170 mm, offers nominal torque ranges from 0.19 to 60 Nm and features speeds up to 7500 rpm. SMH40/SMB40 is available in two lengths (92 mm / 109 mm) which are rated at 0.19 Nm and 0.38 Nm respectively, 230 VAC.

SMH40/SMB40 features the same feedback types and options as the rest of the SMH/SMB range, including a robust resolver interface to multiple high precision digital position feedback options. The product can also be ordered as a single cable servo motor featuring the new HIPERFACE DSL® feedback system - a completely digital and interference-free absolute position feedback system for servo motors and drives. This integrates the encoder communication into the motor power connection cable eliminating the need for a separate feedback connection cable between drive and motor.

SMH/SMB series is designed to provide optimum performance when matched to Parker PSD standalone and multi-axis servo drive series.
