Portable water treatment system for acoustic measurement work from Precision Acoustics

Water quality is an essential consideration for accurate measurement of acoustic fields. Hydrophone measurements require deionised water, degassed water and filtration to remove biological hazards. The Precision Acoustics portable system will sanitise and degas the water in your test tank. There are many international standards in relation to ultrasound measurements that require the use of degassed water, including IEC61161, IEC61689, IEC61102, IEC61220, IEC60854 and the forthcoming IEC62127-part 1. To complement this portable water treatment system, it is advisable to use ion-exchange resins or similar from a local supplier to de-ionise the water during filling of the tank.

The system operates in circulation mode, taking the water from the test tank through a two-stage particulate and UV treatment unit. The clean water is then fed through an evacuated membrane contactor for degassing before returning to the tank. An integrated programmable timer allows scheduling of daily treatment at times suitable to any lab's workflow.
 
In addition to sanitising and degassing the water, it is important to use a dissolved oxygen meter to check the levels. Precision Acoustics recommend the Hach dissolved oxygen meter which will ensure the system is being run at optimum operating conditions for an appropriate amount of time, as well as monitoring the dissolved oxygen level in the water and that the necessary levels of degassing are being achieved.
