PROjEN PLC Supports Noise Action Week

PROjEN PLC, a specialist engineering project management company, based in Preston Brook, Cheshire is pleased to announce its support for Noise Action Week which took place on 23rd - 27th May. The company displayed posters, showed videos and carried out toolbox talks to promote the campaign both in the Head Office and on Client sites in order to raise awareness of the impacts of noise and to promote the simple measures that can be taken to prevent noise problems.

Noise Action Week is an annual initiative organised by the Environmental Protection UK, the environmental protection charity supported by pollution control professionals, which has been working for a cleaner, quieter, healthier world since 1898. The campaign aims to raise awareness about neighbourhood noise and the solutions available to tackle it. It gives everyone involved in managing noise problems the opportunity to focus public and media attention on the difficulties excessive noise can cause for us all.

Noise can cause disruption and distress to everyone - at home, at leisure, at work and at study. National research1 shows that two fifths of the population say noise affects their quality of life and in 2008 around half a million people (1%) said they had moved home because of noisy neighbours. This was more a problem in the private rented sector, where 4% said they had moved because of noisy neighbours.

During Noise Action Week everybody is urged to:

·  Consider the noise they make and the effect it has on others
·  Consider the noises that disturb them
·  Use practical solutions to everyday noise problems

PROjEN's Managing Director, Martin Seabrook comments:

"PROjEN's support for this campaign is testimony to the company's ability to raise Health and Safety awareness on the projects we manage. PROjEN's exceptional Health and Safety record is a welcome recognition of the hard work that has been made over recent years to raise the levels of Health and Safety across sites".
