Prominent chemical engineers elected to Royal Academy

Five members of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) have been elected new Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering. They join some of the most accomplished engineers from academia and business in the UK and internationally.The elected Fellows include Professor Raffaella Ocone, professor of chemical engineering, school of engineering and physical sciences at Heriot-Watt University; Professor Adisa Azapagic, professor of sustainable chemical engineering, school of chemical engineering and analytical Science at the University of Manchester; Professor Stratos Pistikopoulos, professor of chemical engineering at Imperial College London and Professor Zhanfeng Cui, Donald Pollock professor of chemical engineering at Oxford University and Professorial Fellow of Hartford College, Oxford.
Khalid Al-Falih, president and chief executive Officer, Saudi Aramco, was also elected an International Fellow at the Royal Academy's Annual General Meeting on 22 July 2013.
David Brown, IChemE's chief executive said: "These are well deserved honours and reflect their excellent contribution to the chemical engineering profession.
"Just 60 Fellows were elected by the Royal Academy of Engineering this year, which demonstrates how highly they are regarded in their fields.
"It's also excellent to see two women chemical engineers being recognised for their achievements and the multi-national nature of chemical engineering that attracts leading professionals from across the world to become members of IChemE, and to live and work in the UK."
