Proskills UK partners with Australian institute to deliver border-less vocational skills

Proskills UK Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with North Coast TAFE which will see a new and exciting approach to sectoral work-based skills implemented.

The partners are committed to developing a global solution relating to the migration of skilled labour. This will include competency mapping, sector evaluation, gap review and evaluation of sector, local, state and national competencies. This will provide transferability for prospective overseas employees prior to disembarkation and arrival at respective country to commence employment, and at a significant cost and efficiency, benefits both the employee and employer.

Jonathan Ledger, Managing Director of Proskills UK Group said:

"Many UK based employers and employees struggle with the transfer and recognition of their skilled labour to another country. In particular when trying to transfer employee existing qualifications into another country in which they operate. Our partnership will create a global and border-less approach enabling recognition of existing skills and qualifications.

Supporting the ongoing development of transferable skills is a key industry-based objective that we take very seriously. Our industrial partnerships with a wide range of global employers yet again demonstrates how practical solutions are being delivered into the heart of businesses, helping to underpin their growth and success."

As one of the leading vocational training providers in Australia, North Coast TAFE places great emphasis on innovation and responsiveness.

Director of Industry Services, Julie Board, says that North Coast TAFE focuses on using skills and qualification recognition, innovative flexible learning and workplace training strategies.

"This is to ensure organisations get to optimum productivity quickly and individuals can improve their earning potential just as quickly." says Ms Board.

As one of the ten Institutes of NSW government's Technical and Further Education Commission (TAFE NSW), North Coast TAFE is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) under the Australian Quality Training Framework and maintains International Standards Organisation (ISO) 9001:2000 quality accreditation. North Coast TAFE services individuals and organisations across Australia and overseas with the capacity and capability to draw on over 2,500 expert staff to offer services to organisations and individuals in their growth and success strategies.

This exciting development reflects a unique development involving a UK skills body. Working directly alongside an Australian TAFE Institute supporting both UK and Australian qualifications frameworks and collaboratively addressing skills gaps using the competency mapping, mutual recognitions, skills gap training and attainment of qualifications. The strength and quality of both country's competency frameworks, training and qualifications systems will enable a holistic approach to deliver high impact for employees, employers and industry with a truly border-less model.

Simon Elsy of E2 Consulting, an approved Proskills Partner, said:

"The partnership and MOU with North Coast TAFE Institute and Proskills UK Group brings together their considerable vocational skills experience and expertise in what promises to be a ground breaking international collaboration. E2 Consulting looks forward to taking this forward collaboratively working with both partners using its international experience of Australian and UK vocational education and wide sectoral know-how."
