Quick fit endoscope camera speeds image capture

A rugged digital camera introduced by Ultrafine Technology has a lens mounted quick release mechanism that enables endoscopes to be quickly attached and released. It makes capturing and storing endoscope images extremely quick and simple.

Since almost all modern industrial endoscopes have a standard 32 mm diameter eyepiece, they can be quickly fitted to Ultrafine's specially designed quick clutch adapter which screws into the camera's filter thread.

The zoom function on the Ultracam SX600 camera can then be used to expand the endoscope image to fill the compact camera's 2.7 inch LCD screen. Electronic image stabilisation helps reduce blur, and as well as still images the 10 megapixel camera can record up to 90 minutes' video.

"The quick clutch adapter is our own design, and everyone who has tried it says what a difference it makes in time and convenience," said Ultrafine managing director John Patterson.

The water, dust and shock resistant camera is designed for operation in demanding environments and can be used as a standard camera to record site details etc. It is equipped with a 5x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom, built in flash, macro mode and SD memory card.

An edit check function detects for image data tampering. This increases the reliability of the data if digital photographic images are submitted as evidence.

Up to 360 photographs can be taken from a single charge of the rechargeable battery supplied, or in an emergency approximately 60 shots can be taken using a disposable AAA battery.

The endoscopes can also be fitted with Ultrafine's powerful pocket LED light source, which screws into the endoscope to directly connect with its internal fibre optic bundle.
