Successful portfolio expansion / new subsidiary in India /significant investments in BensheimWith 59.6 million Euros annual sales in 2015, Sanner GmbH, a manufacturer of high-quality primary plastic packaging, again achieved record results. The newly founded subsidiary Sanner of India Private Limited, as well as significant investments in the Bensheim site will contribute to sustainable growth. Portfolio expansions and new developments further underscore the company's international position as provider of high-quality all-in-one solutions.
"2015 was a very successful and satisfying year for Sanner," says Holger Frank, Chairman of the Sanner Management Board. "Our total turnover has increased by 9.6 percent compared to the previous year. At the same time, we were able to augment profitability by one percentage point, while increasing liquidity." Sanner still generates the main part of its turnover in Europe, followed by China and the U.S. While China recorded a slight decline due to the difficult market environment, Sanner could significantly enhance sales in the U.S.
New subsidiary in India
India is also set for further growth, especially due to the newly founded subsidiary Sanner of India Private Limited, which was granted approval by the Indian authorities on 7th May 2016. "The establishment of our new subsidiary brings us closer to our goal of capturing relevant market shares and a substantial presence in India," Frank underlines. The company is further establishing a local warehouse to offer customers even faster service. "In the long term, we want to develop Sanner of India to an important pillar of the Sanner group," Frank says.
Significant investments planned in Bensheim
Especially at the headquarters in Bensheim, Germany, a great deal has happened: the company has been successfully certified for its energy management system according to ISO 50001 - and proves that investments in sustainable energy savings truly pay off. Moreover, the Project CypIFlex, which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund, has been successfully brought to a close. Sanner exemplarily shows how industry 4.0 can be used and implemented in small and medium-sized enterprises.
"Apart from investments in sustainable growth of the group, our focus is on optimizing the infrastructure in Bensheim," Frank explains. The automation concept emerging from the CypIFlex project will presumably be launched in 2017 for the areas packaging and internal production logistics. The company further plans to replace up to 19 injection molding machines in 2017. The goal is to have the entire machinery park on a uniform technological level to increase productivity and to further reduce energy consumption. Moreover, Sanner is planning to build a new production facility for large machines, which will also include further cleanroom capacities for customer projects.
Portfolio expansion opens up new market shares
Numerous portfolio expansions have shown what Sanner can do with state-of-the-art technology and its in-house development and implementation competence. The Brilliance® Tubes, manufactured using highly modern in-mold labelling technology (IML), have opened up new market potential in Effervescent Packaging. The two new desiccant solutions AdPack® and AdCap® are consistent additions to the Pharma Desiccant Packaging range.
"We are constantly working on optimizing existing and developing new solutions to offer our customers exactly the products they require for their specific applications," says Dirk Mähr, who took over the position of Managing Director Sales and Engineering in August 2015. For instance, Sanner introduced the Atmo Guard System® at the end of last year. The special service for desiccant plastic packaging supports customers in achieving a safe, fast and cost-efficient market introduction of new pharmaceutical and healthcare products. The new product development FOG 27 is the most recent addition to the Effervescent Packaging portfolio.
New FOG 27 closure
The new FOG 27 closure for effervescent tablets is easier and faster to open compared to conventional closures - not only for best-agers. On average, consumers require 70 percent less physical effort, as a consumer study commissioned by Sanner shows. Since the FlipTop closure is firmly attached to the effervescent tube, the FOG 27 can also be easily re-closed and cannot get lost. Combined with the IML technology, Sanner offers customers a complete solution, which convinces both at point-of-sale and in terms of handling. "This way, we are consistently developing into a system solutions provider who can offer customers all products and services from a single source," Mähr reports.
More and more tailor-made solutions
Sanner is also currently expanding its own engineering competence. "Apart from our own standard products, the demand for tailor-made solutions is rising constantly, especially in the Asian market," Ralf Tiemann, Vice President Sanner Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging Materials (Kunshan) Co. Ltd., confirms. "This is why our engineering expertise is especially important for this business segment. Backed by long-term experience and numerous successful customer projects, we at Sanner know exactly how to transfer specific requirements into individual, high-quality products and solutions," Dirk Mähr concludes.
