SAWMILL SWITCHES TO MOSCA

Leading British sawmill Charles Ransford and Son Ltd has installed a Mosca KOF-611 strapping machine for the fast and efficient strapping of bulk packs of timber produce.Ransfords processes around 70,000 tonnes of logs each year at its facility in Bishop's Castle, Shropshire, supplying high quality fencing and other timber products. All products are endorsed with the FSC trademark and the company is certified to supply timber, pressure impregnated with preservatives, that meets the stringent demands of the Highways Agency.
The company had been using a non-Mosca machine for the past eight years but the need to upgrade its equipment led it to select a Mosca, having seen the machines in use elsewhere and hearing from others in the industry about how good they are.
"We wanted something easy to use and maintain which was reliable and good value for money," explains Production Manager Steve Turner. "We're pleased to say the Mosca machine is delivering on all of those."
The Mosca KOF vertical strapper is designed with a lower sealing head for easy integration into production lines, as well as lateral movement out of the line if required. It allows for quick application and has the facility to vary its tension to suit the vast array of timber products being produced. Standard features include Siemans Control Panel, Separate Strap Dispenser, Friction-Weld Sealing Head and Adjustable Strap Tension.
Mosca KOF machines are German-manufactured, top-of-the-range strapping machines and are available in the UK from its wholly owned subsidiary, Mosca Direct of Cotgrave, Nottingham. They fit easily into existing lines to replace underperforming machines or as part of a new project to improve throughput with increased speed and efficiency.
