Schneider Electric: UK businesses must nurture female talent
07/03/2025 Schneider Electric UK Ltd
Ahead of International Women’s Day tomorrow, comments from Kelly Becker, President, Schneider Electric UK and Ireland, Belgium and Netherlands.
With women making up less than a third of the UK’s STEM workforce, Kelly comments on the need for more women in these roles to boost the UK’s green economy and drive innovation.
“Unlocking the full potential of the UK’s green economy rests on its breadth of talent. Yet women make up less than a third of this picture, with only 29% in STEM roles. As the UK strives to boost innovation and meet its climate targets, it’s essential businesses create more routes for success and recognise inclusion and care as a business imperative.
“Organisations must create business frameworks that nurture female talent as well as differences in thought, experience and background. In this respect, Schneider Electric has a number of initiatives including diverse leadership, family leave, and pay equity – which have been recognised by the World Economic Forum.
“This level of support and mentorship has been invaluable in my own career journey, which is why I strongly advocate for an inclusive culture. We have a collective responsibility to hold the ladder up to success and nurture talent – in doing so, we can open up new opportunities for growth.”
