Semta's new marketing and sales team to help manufacturing boost skills

Semta has today announced two new appointments which support the sector skills council in delivering sustainable skills solutions to science, engineering and manufacturing employers across the UK.Viki Bell joins as Marketing Manager and Lindsey Glennie is now Semta's Sales Support Manager working with the recently appointed Head of Sales, Tina Tillard. The new team will promote the value of training and ensure that employers invest in the right training to deliver a demonstrable return.
Susan Evans, Business Development Director of Semta, commented: "These new roles are a big step forward in developing and delivering the training needed by the strategically important manufacturing and engineering sectors. Only 46% of the manufacturing workforce was trained in the last year. This is below the national average yet manufacturing and engineering skills are in short supply and will become increasingly expensive to hire. Our new team will encourage businesses to invest and help them to get the best return from their upskilling activity."
With a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing, Viki held previous roles at Cranfield University where she first developed a real interest in science, technology, engineering and manufacturing. Following this, she became the Director of Communications at Barnsfield Federation, which offers education for 11-16 year olds and further education and skills training for adults.
Lindsey Glennie previously worked at reports analytics firm Datawatch International Ltd, as Customer Relationship Manager. Here Lindsey developed and implemented the 'Customer Engagement and Retention' programme which led to significant revenue growth.
Viki and Lindsey's combined experience will support Semta's skills experts across the UK to help sector companies improve their business performance through skills. Semta is already working with employers to build sustainable solutions to the changing skills landscape. Available programmes include Career Investment and Progression aimed at supporting women in traditionally male-dominated industries, Introduction to Lean and Lean Leader, First Line Supervisor and Managing for Success, Health and Safety Passport and CNC diagnostics and programming. Semta's courses are delivered by recognised providers who use tried and tested techniques to ensure people learn effectively.
Semta also assists companies through consultancy, helping companies outsource their training, providing bespoke courses, leading strategic workforce planning, developing training plans, finding available funding and quality providers, and advising on employing an apprentice or a graduate or developing supply chain capability.
