Brüel & Kjær expands LDS testing capabilities to meet increased demandFollowing a strong increase in demand for LDS vibration test systems, Brüel & Kjær VTS has built a fourth factory test cell to support its customers' needs.
In 2012, the company's LDS shaker range had its biggest year ever - and has now installed more than 3,500 models since LDS Test and Measurement became part of Brüel & Kjær in 2008. The extra factory test cell enables Brüel & Kjær VTS to create and test more shakers without impeding the production of other customer projects.
LDS vibration test systems, together with Brüel & Kjær's sound and vibration data acquisition systems, cover a wide range of diverse applications and industries including space, aerospace, defence, automotive, oil drilling industries, consumer products and package testing. Currently there are approximately 10,000 individual LDS shakers in use around the world.
"We manufacture about 900 shakers a year and this number is steadily increasing,†explains Alex Williamson, Head of R&D and Engineering for the LDS range at Brüel & Kjær VTS's factory in Royston, UK.
Alex continues: "The added resources of Brüel & Kjær have boosted our ability to customise LDS vibration test systems, as about two thirds of our shaker business is customised, so our ability to tailor a shaker to customer-specific requirements is a great advantage. Our sole aim is to focus on solving customers' challenges.â€
