Sharp rise in export demand for Zettlex IncOders

Cambridge-based sensors company Zettlex has announced the further expansion of its IncOder range of precision angle encoders, as well as increased demand for IncOders from Germany, France and USA.

Zettlex's IncOder range now includes a choice of more than 500,000 product variants, including new versions with improved accuracies, more connector options and more electrical output options (including a 0-10V option).

The IncOder range allows customers to mix and match a range of options so that the final product matches their exact requirements. Options now include a choice of 8 sizes from 75mm to 250mm diameter; a variety of mechanical mounting options including screw or servo clamp stators; 7 measurement resolutions; a wide range of digital and analogue data outputs; 4 supply voltages; 4 connector options; and a range of product accessories such as cables and servo clamps. Further options are already in development for launch in Q1 2014.

Zettlex also customises IncOders to suit specific OEM requirements. Custom versions include: larger sizes (up to 570mm outer diameter); stainless steel versions; different surface finishes and protection options; ATEX-certified; ultra lightweight units for airborne applications; low inertia; low temperature; increased measurement performance (up to 24-bit resolution per rev); and IP67 rated sensors for operation in wet environments.

Mark Howard, Zettlex General Manager comments: "We are seeing a rapid growth in demand for our inductive encoders from overseas markets. Exports now account for more than half of our total revenues. In particular, Germany is now our fastest growing overseas market. As Germany is one of the world's largest and most sophisticated markets for position sensors, we are delighted that our IncOder products have stimulated such a positive response from this market."

IncOders are precision, non-contact, absolute angle measuring devices that use a unique inductive technique and may be considered as an inductive encoder. The sensors are suitable for precision measurements in harsh environments such as industrial, medical, defence and aerospace equipment - where electrical contacts, optical or capacitive sensors may prove unreliable or where traditional inductive sensors are too bulky or expensive.

IncOders are specified for a wide variety of applications, including rotary joints & gimbals; actuator servos & motor encoders; electro-optic & infrared camera systems; heliostats & solar equipment; robotic arms & CNC machine tools; calibration equipment; light & heavy calibre weapons systems; targeting systems & range finders; antenna pointing devices & telescopes; packaging & laboratory automation; medical scanners & surgical equipment; cranes & telescopic manipulators. IncOders also have a solid track record in safety-related applications, including airborne equipment and weapons systems.

The new expanded IncOder range is available at www.celeramotion.com/zettlex/ as well as through Zettlex's international resellers.
