Siemens Congleton supports new engineering talent

ยท E3 Academy graduate takes his place at Siemens manufacturing centreHelping to support the drive to increase the numbers of badly-needed engineers and technicians of the future, a successful collaboration between universities and industry has resulted in student Robert Moody graduating with a first class BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Newcastle University.
Robert was sponsored by Siemens to attend the E3 Academy programme, a partnership between a select number of universities and companies. Following his graduation he has now joined the ranks full time at Siemens 'manufacturing centre in Congleton.
Robert received a bursary to support his time at university as well as paid summer work experience in Siemens, where he was able to apply knowledge gained from his studies. In addition, Robert attended summer schools with fellow E3 students who were also supported by a range of organisations, covering a number of 'stand out skills' training, including lean manufacturing methods.
The collaborative E3 Academy scheme sees companies that would normally compete with each other for the best engineers working together by encouraging school students to follow a rewarding and challenging career in engineering across a wide range of applications. These include automotive, marine, renewables and industrial manufacturing.
Commenting on his experience Robert Moody said: "In addition to the clear financial benefit provided by the E3 Academy, the experience gained during summer placements has created exciting opportunities for me at Siemens which otherwise wouldn't have been possible. I am enjoying the challenges, both technical and non-technical, which I face in my full-time role in Congleton."
