Simulating Aviation Test Temperatures

ICS Cool Energy recently provided an externally-sited 780kW chiller on a rental basis to an aviation testing facility in the West of England to ensure the highest quality of flight-ready aircraft.The world of aviation incorporates specialist technologies which lead to the manufacture of the highest quality aircraft. Aircraft testing incorporates a number of simulations for all engineering elements including wing components which are tested for robustness and responsiveness in wind tunnels. Precision engineering and high quality is clearly essential in these air simulations to ensure maximum safety is achieved and maintained.
The facility in the West Country tests a variety of aircraft makes and models while strictly adhering to industry standards, as well as any additional requirements that individual manufacturers may have. To support the testing facility, ICS Cool Energy recently supplied a chiller with connections to the site's bulk water holding tank which is used to provide cooling for the wind tunnel machinery. The test manager explains: "Our previously installed equipment failed some years ago and hire has been a financially attractive option which avoids tying up valuable capital."
With the temporary chiller in place, aircraft testing can continue as before as ICS Cool Energy supplied a unit with capabilities that exceeded the initial site requirements offering built-in redundancy to manage the demands of increased seasonal summer ambient temperatures.
