Some like it hot - New laser distance meters from Jenoptik for measurement on hot surfaces
26/11/2012 Jenoptik (Defense & Civil Systems)
Laser Distance Meters of the new LUMOS Product Family are particularly suitable for distance measurement on hot surfaces, for example, glowing steel, and for outdoor use in bright lighting conditions. The new LUMOS Laser Sensors measure and monitor distances up to 500 meters - accurate
to the millimeter. Of compact design, they work with visible red laser light at the wavelength
of 635 nanometers. A special measuring procedure facilitates reliable measurement, notably, on hot surfaces and in environments with a high percentage of stray light/constant light.
Generally, almost any natural surface, including liquids, can be a suitable measuring target. Maximum range performance is reached with measurement on special targets, for example, commercial types of reflector foil.
Simple and flexible system integration, convenient operation
LUMOS Distance Meters are designed to meet IP67 Internal Protection Standards for optimal system integration in the automation engineering solutions. Available interfacing options are: RS232, RS422, RS485, SSI and profibus. Digital switching outputs, triggers and analog data output are included as standard configuration features. For convenient parameterization and data display, the LUMOS Family is equipped with a display, a keypad and status LEDs.
A sensor for a wide variety of applications
Typical applications of LUMOS-series distance measuring devices are the measurement and tracking of the positions and physical dimensions of goods and semifinished products, for example, in the steel working industry, in rolling mills and in general automation engineering. LUMOS sensors are also capable of monitoring the fill level or position ofvehicles, conveyor or feeder systems.
LUMOS - an extension to Jenoptik's industrial laser sensor range
The new LUMOS Laser Distance Meter family takes its place within the Jenoptik product line of field-proven LDM laser distance measuring sensors that cover a wide range of industrial applications worldwide.
