Frost Protect Ltd., a UK specialist in frost protection and trace heating systems for domestic, industrial and commercial projects, has chosen to use Spelsberg's HT Series thermostat systems to provide continuous temperature monitoring. The systems are designed to maintain a minimum temperature to ensure that pipes are protected from costly frost damage; which has been of particular concern in recent winters. The last two winters have been particularly cold in the UK which has resulted in many businesses and owners suffering damaged pipes; a potentially catastrophic and expensive event that can easily be avoided with the installation of frost protection and trace heating systems.
Graham Laffey, Director of Frost Protect Ltd., comments: "Our systems are installed in a range of applications from domestic homes to large scale industrial sites. All of our customers rely on the equipment that we specify to protect their fluid transfer systems against the costly problem of frost damage. The very nature of our products means that components are subjected to extreme environments; for this reason we subject all items to rigorous testing prior to specification."
Without a thermostat, protection systems need to be either in continuous operation - which leads to high and unnecessary energy costs - or manually monitored and controlled - which doesn't guarantee protection 24/7. By constantly monitoring the temperatures of pipes, or external air temperature a system can be automatically and efficiently switched on or off at pre-determined temperature limits, without the risk of human error.
Frost Protect Ltd. tested many of the thermostat products which are available on the market to ensure that it offered the most robust and versatile component available. It found that HT Series thermostats from Spelsberg were able to survive the harsh conditions in which they would operate, while also providing simple and reliable installation. The robust mechanical thermostats come ready encased in one of Spelsberg's IP66 protected TK enclosures and are supplied pre-assembled which guarantees protection from ingress and severe weather.
Upon delivery the thermostats simply need to be integrated in to the trace heating system and an active frost protection solution is provided.
Chris Lloyd, Sales and Marketing Manager for Spelsberg UK, adds: "Our thermostat is a simple but practical solution for most trace heating applications, irrespective of scale. Our expertise in enclosure manufacture means that the thermostat is housed correctly providing ideal protection from the elements and easy access to controls. By offering a complete solution we remove the hassle of specifying separate parts and help avoid the additional costs and assembly times that can be associated with producing control units and junction boxes."
