STIEBEL ELTRON has joined the "United Nations Global Compact", the world's largest initiative for corporate responsibility and sustainable development.

The leading  heat pump manufacturer is committed to actively implementing the ten universal principles of the UN Global Compact in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption.

At the same time, STIEBEL ELTRON is automatically a participant in the initiative's German network, the UN Global Compact Network Germany (UNGCD).

Dr. Kai Schiefelbein, Chairman of the Management Board, said: "Sustainability is not only an issue for Stiebel Eltron as part of our product development as a heat pump supplier, but part of our corporate identity."

"Joining the UN Global Compact is a logical step and a clear signal: We take responsibility – for our employees, our partners and the environment."

Sara Lohr from the company's Sustainability Department adds: "Within the framework of our various codes, such as the Code of Human Rights and Working Conditions and the Declaration of Principles on Social Responsibility and Human Rights, Stiebel Eltron has long referred to these ten principles,"

"So it is only logical, that we have now also submitted the application for membership."

Part of this application is a so-called "Letter of Commitment", i.e. a declaration of commitment signed by the Chairman of the Board of Management, Dr. Kai Schiefelbein, and addressed directly to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. It confirms its support for the "Ten Principles" of the UNGC.

"We are also committed to integrating the 'Ten Principles' into our corporate strategy and culture, as well as into our day-to-day business, and to participate in projects that promote the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals," says Lohr.

"The "Ten Principles" in conjunction with the SDGs give us a clear framework," Schiefelbein continues. "They show how economic success and social responsibility belong together – and where we as a company can start in concrete terms."
