Stora Enso Imatra Mills replaces its current moisture profiling equipment with Metso IQ Moisturizers to reach better board quality

Stora Enso has placed an order with Metso to supply two IQ Moisturizer systems for BM4 at Imatra Mills, Finland. Stora Enso has previous positive experience with IQ Moisturizer at its Tainionkoski and Inkeroinen boards mills in Finland. Metso's moisturizer design and demonstrated performance will eliminate a current water spotting and streaking problem, resulting in improved board quality and avoiding broke.The mill plans to improve top side surface quality and precisely control sheet curl for the liquid packaging board, which is the main grade produced on the 355,000 t/a machine. BM4 has a wire width of 6.95 meters and a maximum design speed of 600 m/min.
Metso IQ CD profiling moisturizer achieves very precise control of CD moisture with four rows of micro droplet nozzles, which are controlled steplessly using linear water control valves equipped with electromechanical actuators and position feedback measurements. The product is an application-matched solution for all paper and board. The installation is scheduled at the end of September
