The Energy Event celebrates more visitors and record rebook following bumper show

The Energy Event, the UK's leading energy exhibition and conference from i2i Events, has closed its doors following a bumper 2014 show, with almost two thirds of exhibition space (61%) already rebooked for the event and its co-located sister shows in 2015.

The show welcomed 5% more visitors than last year, with 7,583* attending The Energy Event and the co-located exhibitions, The Renewables Event and The Water Event.

The free two-day event took place at the NEC, Birmingham from 16 to 17 September 2014. This year's strong conference programme featured 73 seminar sessions across three theatres, with standing room only for the show's highest profile speakers. Keynote speakers included leading Oxford economist Dieter Helm, Jonathan Mills, director for electricity market reform, Department of Energy and Climate Change and Mark Gallagher, former head of commercial affairs for Red Bull.

The Energy Event also offered access to the services, products and advice of more than 160 exhibitors, including big name suppliers such as npower, Dong Energy, Corona Energy, Eneco, GDF Suez, Hudson Energy, Corona Energy, Haven Power, Wingas UK and Smartest Energy.

BIU was this year's headline sponsor, while the Major Energy Users' Council was a key partner for the show.

Russell Bacon, Portfolio Director at i2i Events Group, said: "We have been delighted with this year's Energy Event, which has proved a huge success for exhibitors and visitors alike. With so many legislative changes on the horizon, it's more important than ever for businesses to stay abreast of energy management developments and opportunities."

New to this year's show was the launch of the Professional Services Zone, an exciting feature dedicated to helping businesses better understand and manage utilities. Professional Services housed three areas providing free advice for visitors - the Legal Hub operated by Zyda Law, the Expert Hub coordinated by Opus Energy and the Business Stream Drop-In Zone.

Liz Mccartney, assistant solicitor for Zyda Law, said: "It's been a really positive experience for us, we've been really busy and met plenty of strong contacts on both days. We've been very well looked after onsite and in the run-up to the show. I feel like the organisers have really invested in its exhibitors this year."

Catherine Lange, head of strategic marketing for Schneider Electric added: "This year's show is bigger again, with more visitors and a nice mix of small and large companies exhibiting. We've generated more really strong leads than we set out to, so we're very happy. I'm sure we'll return in 2015."
