The Manufacturing Institute is pleased to announce a number of new appointments, bolstering its senior team.Mike Price has been appointed Managing Director - TMI Enterprises and will lead all commercial activity at the Institute, including consultancy services and education and training.
A respected senior manufacturing leader, Mike has a track record of success in operational improvement, with worldwide recognition of excellence. During his time as Chief Executive of Ultraframe UK Ltd in Lancashire, Mike transformed the operations of the business resulting in recognition as the UK's Best Engineering Plant at the Best Factory Awards in 2007 and global Shingo Prize Bronze Medallion recipient in 2009.
Prior to this, Mike was Director of Operations at The Manufacturing Institute, responsible for establishing and heading up the North West Manufacturing Advisory Service, delivering significant performance improvements for manufacturing SMEs. He was also formerly Managing Director of PAC International, creating the operations strategy which led to the company being recognised as winner of the Best Electronics & Electrical Plant category at the Best Factory Awards in 1998.
Chris Wilkinson has also been appointed Managing Director for Fab Labs, the digital manufacturing facilities which enable people to design and make prototypes of all descriptions. In his new role, Chris will lead the growth and development of the Fab Lab network across the UK.
Chris brings a wealth of experience, having spent over 33 years in commercial aerospace, undertaking executive roles across product development and operations at global companies including Airbus, BAE Systems and Spirit Aerosystems. Over the last decade he has managed programmes connecting teams in Europe to South East Asia, Russia and America.
He sits on the Board of the international Fab Foundation which aims to facilitate and support the growth of the international Fab Lab network and in his former role as a Trustee of The Manufacturing Institute, Chris spearheaded the development of the UK's Fab Lab Manchester in 2010.
Donna Edwards joins the Institute as Head of Administration and Shared Services and will be responsible for working with key stakeholders in the public and private sector to support the delivery of a wide range of funded projects and activities.
Donna brings a wealth of relevant experience in business planning, change management and strategy, having spent a number of years at Business Link Northwest, firstly as Operations Director and then Managing Director. Prior to this, Donna spent four years at Chamberlink, where she was Operations Director/Deputy Chief Executive. She has 15 years manufacturing sector experience, managing major changes programmes related to company re-structuring, acquisition and mergers.
They join Mike Innes, who has been newly-appointed to the role of Growth Champion, and will help North West manufacturing SMEs find and develop growth opportunities in their businesses through the £2.4m Growth Programme.
