TIME AND ATTENDANCE MODULE BUILDS ON DATATRACK VERSATILITY

After only a few weeks of use, WML Engineering has seen the benefits of its decision to add the new Time & Attendance module to its existing installation of DataTrack production and business administration software.WML Engineering is an outstanding example of sustainable, high quality engineering and is the holder of many awards as well as holding Grade A status with a series of automotive and aerospace clients. Major company investments have included 12-axis CNC sliding-head lathe technology and today the company is a modern, streamlined business providing a fast turnaround and high levels of customer responsiveness.
Co-Director Jason Meir recognised some years ago the need to release time and resources to better manage the business and identify new customers. As a result, the company invested in PSL's DataTrack products and started to run the company with the software. It was quickly apparent that DataTrack had much to offer without a huge investment in training and familiarisation. As a result, new modules were added such as Shop Floor Data collection, estimating and the purchase invoice facility that seamlessly integrates with WML's accounting package. Then the Status Board feature was acquired to give the company the ability to communicate data around the organisation effectively.
The latest addition is an integrated Time & Attendance which is an extension to the Shop Floor Data Collection module. It provides WML with alternatives for data collection. These are time & attendance only, with employee records available for analysis or export; time & attendance together with shop floor data collection analysing setting and production times independently by clocking on and off jobs and machines; standard 'post-event' logging of shop floor data collection with independent analysis on recorded times for setting and production.
It offers extra analysis and records, contributing to overall improvements in efficiency and effectiveness in WML's business. Jason Meir says: "It has disciplined the entire workforce to enter not only Attendance but also Shop Floor Data which enables us to accurately collect production information, job costs and keep our scheduler bang up-to-date. Our payroll company now need only a simple emailed report - straight from the system."
Employee time and attendance is a vital element of cost control and productivity levels so the addition of the Time & Attendance function provides totally reliable statistics. Data input can be provided using keyboard and mouse, bar-code reader or touch-screen as well as a mixture of all, depending on equipment available or desirable. A supervisor module is also available for editing and correction of input and it contains a full reporting system.
The Time & Attendance module can also be integrated with the Status Board display system to provide real time displays of attendance, progress and action. Overall, the Time & Attendance module provides WML with security and control over employee attendance and shop floor progress whilst also minimising the administration costs and time traditionally associated with manual recording and control over employees' activities on the shop floor.
Jason Meir concludes: "It is hard to see how we could effectively drive waste out of our processes without DataTrack. It has freed up our time and saved us money - we're more productive by being efficient through data analysis, most of all, more responsive to our customers."
