Keen cyclists in CAD Schroer's Cambridge office can't wait to have the excitement of the world's largest annual sporting event right on their doorstepCambridge, UK and Pittsford, NY - 3 July 2014: The Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2014 is coming to Cambridge on July 7th. The route runs a mere 800 metres from CAD Schroer's offices. Excitement is growing in the company, which sponsors its entire staff to cycle to work from March to October.
Amazing Encouragement for Cycle Commute
"We're about halfway through this year's cycle-to-work campaign," says Simon Geard of CAD Schroer UK, who cycles to the office every day, "and what an amazing bit of encouragement to be able to watch stage 3 of the race commence in our lovely city! Our offices are an 8-minute walk from the colleges, so everyone will be there to cheer on the riders as they race down King's Parade."
Cambridge is the cycling capital of the UK, with 1 in 3 residents using bicycles to get around on a daily basis. CAD Schroer staff members there are ready to be inspired by the amazing spectacle of the best cyclists in the world whizzing past the ancient city's beautiful scenery on their way to London.

Cycling for Charity
Each year, engineering software provider CAD Schroer, headquartered near Düsseldorf, sponsors a cycle-to-work campaign for all its offices, keeping a daily tally of all the km employees ride between March and October. When the two-wheeled commuters reach certain monthly goals, their efforts invoke corporate charity contributions. During July, all km cycled to work, or on after-work cycling trips with colleagues, translate directly into charity contributions. "Charities are nominated and voted for by staff members," says Gudrun Tebart of CAD Schroer Germany, "Along with this year's amazing sporting events, like the Tour de France and the Football World Cup, that's another great incentive for our teams to get active."
In 2013, CAD Schroer's staff cycled a combined 22,716 km to work, over six times the entire Tour de France route of 3,656 km.

Cycling is Healthy, Green and Cheap
"The cycle-to-work campaign has gained real traction in our company, with more and more staff getting involved," says CAD Schroer Managing Director Michael Schroer. Not only does it benefit employees' physical well-being, the planet and their pockets; giving to a good cause is also an important motivator.
"This year's Tour de France will make our Cambridge cyclists feel especially inspired," Michael concludes, "but hopefully the planet's most amazing athletes on two wheels will encourage all our team members to rise to our cycle-to-work challenge."
