Tsubaki toasts successful Drinktec show

Industrial drive chain maker, Tsubakimoto Europe B.V., reported a high level of visitor interest in its specialised chain solutions for the beverage industry at September's Drinktec exhibition in Munich. Tsubaki offers a number of chain variants to support hygienic operations, all of which are designed for maximum service life and performance.

The latest generation of Tsubaki's lube-free RS Lambda chain features sintered oil impregnated bushes, the microscopic pores of which are vacuum filled with high performance NSF-H1 food grade lubricant, to provide a 30% increase in wear-life performance. A special coating on the pins ensures easy chain disassembly, while markings on the rivet head indicate pin rotation. Finally, a patented ring coin connecting link ensures that the chain can be specified up to its full chain capacity.

Similar in construction, the Tsubaki Traypacker chain also features internal lubrication and was developed specially for the type of tray packing machinery widely used in the food and beverage industry. On such machines, where cleanliness and hygiene are paramount, standard lubricated chain can cause contamination and may become chocked with dust and other particles, rendering the lubrication ineffective.

With Traypacker the internal lubrication cannot transmit to products, which eradicates contamination. Also, the consistent internal lubrication combats the risks of uneven wear and elongation, and does away with the need to apply expensive food grade lubricants. Traypacker is also slightly narrower than standard Lambda chain, a requirement for most tray packing machines, and can be fitted with pushers or other attachments via an extended pin.

Neptune, Tsubaki's chain for harsh application environments was also on display. This features high tensile strength, is corrosion resistant and is suitable for wash downs.

The secret behind Neptune's performance is a ground breaking, two-layer surface treatment that combines protection against corrosive environments with maximised chain strength. A specially developed top coat resin protects the chain from physical impact and forms the front line defence against corrosive agents. Beneath this is a base coating which prevents oxidisation from reaching the chain. The coatings are applied prior to chain assembly to ensure that each component is completely coated, so that Neptune can be used in wet environments or even underwater.
