Understanding How Materials Work - Free event demonstrates how businesses can benefit

Understanding How Materials Work is a free event, due to take place on 24 February, featuring exhibitions, presentations and discussions. It will bring together the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded UK mid-range national facilities for advanced materials characterisation and analyses.

Exploiting new materials often requires access to advanced characterisation techniques that go beyond the routine analyses most laboratories are capable of, such as advanced spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), the use of lasers and high-resolution electron microscopy. EPSRC's mid-range facilities have such capabilities, and this event, jointly organised with the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), will showcase them and demonstrate how they can benefit businesses.

Facility staff will be present to provide insight into the equipment's potential. Delegates will be able to discuss with individual facilities the challenges they face in their daily business, before exploring possible solutions.
