UniversalAutomation.Org welcomes Cognex as a new member

UniversalAutomation.Org (UAO), the independent, not-for-profit association managing the implementation of an industrial automation shared runtime execution engine to decouple the application software from the hardware on which it executes, has welcomed Cognex, a world leader in industrial machine vision, as a new member.
The technological collaboration between Cognex and UAO members will drive further development of an ecosystem of portable, interoperable, “plug and produce” solutions, creating an entirely new category of industrial automation for real-world applications.
“We are delighted to welcome Cognex as a member, as more market-leading organisations seek to adopt the latest industrial automation technologies and solutions,” said John Conway, President at UniversalAutomation.Org. “Our goal, as an organisation is to completely reshape the paradigm of factory automation software and interoperability. While applications today are hardware-specific, the UAO platform allows for hardware-agnostic programs that run on any automation controller. We’re proud to see our open approach gain significant momentum in the industry, as organisations continue to realise the untapped potential of the IEC 61499 standard.”
