At this year's Drives & Controls exhibition, VACON, a world leader in the development and manufacture of ac variable speed drives (VSDs), will be showcasing its tough IP66-rated VACON 100 X drives that can be installed in almost any location - even out of doors - without the need for further protection, as well as VACON 100 FLOW drives that are optimised for fan and pump applications.Also in the spotlight will be the compact and very competitively priced VACON 10 micro drives which have been developed with ease of use and versatility firmly in mind, and VACON 20 micro drives which share the benefits of the VACON 10 products but add programmable controller functionality.
With a power range up to 37 kW, which is unmatched by competitive products, VACON 100 X drives feature a rugged die-cast metal enclosure with an IP66 ingress protection rating and have an exceptionally wide operating temperature range of -40 ºC to +60 ºC, allowing them to perform reliably and consistently in even the toughest of operating conditions.
VACON 100 X drives can be mounted in any orientation and are also resistant to vibration up 3g. They can, therefore, optionally be mounted directly on the motor they are controlling and, in appropriate applications, this can result in valuable space savings as well as reducing the amount of cabling required.
Variable speed drives in the VACON 100 FLOW range offer easy set up with dedicated application menus for water and other pump and fan segment applications, economy with integrated two-zone PID control, and versatility with multi-motor control facilities provided as standard. Available with power ratings from 0.55 kW to 160 kW, they provide an extensive range of features that make life easier and save money for users.
These features include dual-zone PID control, which allows two process parameters to be controlled simultaneously; integrated frost protection; start and sleep boosting; soft pipe filling, which runs pumps at low speed until the pipe are filled; and an anti-ragging function that detects when a pump is blocked and initiates a user-defined cleaning sequence.
Throughout the Drives & Controls exhibition, experts from VACON will be on hand to provide those attending with advice and guidance on selecting ac variable speed drives for specific applications, with the emphasis on combining energy efficiency with versatility, durability and value for money.
