VERLINDE handles ORGUES THOMAS organs

ELECTROLEVAGE, a company using VERLINDE hoists, has installed an overhead monorail fitted with a VERLINDE EUROCHAIN VL10 electric chain hoist in the Manufacture des Orgues Thomas workshop in Belgium. The installation is used for the assembly of organs that can weigh up to 25 metric tons.

The entire organ production or restoration process, from start to finish, is performed by Manufacture d'Orgues Thomas: manuals, organ-chests, sculptures, wind chests, mechanisms, wooden and tin pipes, harmonization, etc. Over the last 45 years, more than 130 new instruments, whose design and construction are inspired by traditional organs, have been rolled out of the workshop. The company has also carried out some 40 restoration operations of 18th and 19th century organs.

The suspended crane (capacity of 1 metric ton) installed by ELECTROLEVAGE is used in the workshop to assemble organs before testing. It is also used to disassemble them for delivery to the customer. It was interestingly used for the manipulation of parts of the organ played in Monaco Cathedral on various occasions, especially midnight masses. This new organ was inaugurated early in December and was greatly appreciated on that occasion by those listening.

ELECTROLEVAGE manager, Mr DEDRIJ, told us: "We have worked with VERLINDE for many years because of their wide product offering and, above all, for the reliability of their hoists".

The installation can lift loads up to a height of 12 m with great flexibility and ensure load travel to distances of 10 m using a radio remote control system.
