Warner Linear launches S-Track Actuator
13/08/2013 Warner Linear
Warner Linear has expanded its range of smart and quiet S-Track linear actuators with the addition of a new, programmable model. The latest development to the range offers an easy-to-use integrated keypad which allows operators to set and reset end of travel positions as well as positioning two intermediate stops. This is ideally suited to applications which require frequent positioning changes, such as material handling and package conveying. The programmable S-Track actuator features enhanced control which allows for 12 or 24 VDC switched power operation by turning power off to the motor automatically when the internal end limits are reached. The operator can quickly define the maximum and minimum stroke length, as well as two intermediate stopping points, in a matter of seconds. An integral MP150 Metri-Pack 8-pin molded connector allows several standard input and output features to monitor the operation of the actuator.
The enhanced flexibility in operation and reduced set-up time makes the product range ideally suited for material handling and packaging conveyor applications where flexibility is important; such as when product and packaging changes are made to production lines which require resetting of the diverter arm opening widths and stops. The speed of programming leads to reduced set-up times and therefore reduced costs.
In keeping with the rest of the S-Track range the new actuators feature a <56dB noise level; 10-15dB quieter than standard actuators in the Warner range and suitable for noise sensitive applications. There is a 700lb maximum dynamic and static load rating, with a 0.25"/sec speed rating and a maximum stroke length of 16" with a end-of-stroke limits. Models are available with housings constructed from either aluminium or engineered plastic for a further reduction in overall noise levels.
The new range is further complemented with an array of actuator controls which are available from simple switch box controls, for basic extend/retract function, to high-end microprocessor based digital electronic controls which use SMT design and manufacturing processes.
