WEG exhibiting energy efficient technologies

Industrial motor and drive manufacturer, WEG is attending the CFIA food processing trade show, in Rennes, France held between March 8 and 10, 2022. WEG will be demonstrating a host of products and technologies, including its energy efficient motors, variable speed drives (VSDs) and a brand new digital platform, Motion Fleet Management (MFM). Attendees can visit the WEG stand at booth A20, Hall 3.
Held annually, CFIA sees the largest companies in the food-processing sector meet and network with suppliers, presenting the latest innovations and technologies in the industry. This year, WEG, a global manufacturer of motors and drives with a branch in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, France, will be exhibiting its variable speed range including the CFW11 and CFW500. Also on show will be the range of Soft Starters, Permanent magnet motors efficiency rating IE5 and its recently launched Motor Fleet Management (MFM) software.
The CFW500 is designed for a wide range of industrial applications, including the food processing sector. With a rating of IP66 the CFW500 is resilient against the harsh environments in food processing. This VSD can operate alongside WEG’s W22 wash motor, which is specially developed to meet the hygiene requirements of food industry, operating in areas which are subjected to regular cleaning.
WEG’s new MFM platform will also be demonstrated at the show. The app allows remote asset online monitoring using cloud based software to allow engineers to reap the rewards of predictive maintenance technology, ultimately leading to total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction. The software can monitor the operating status of VSDs, and soft-starters, gearboxes, gearmotors and other assets in operation. For the food industry, this helps to optimise operations, improve maintenance and ultimately increase uptime.

In fact, WEG’s motors have long met the scope of the current ecodesign regulations, which were updated in July 2021 and to include VSDs and new motor efficiency level requirements,” explained Loic Kentrotis, marketing manager for WEG France. “Outside of our own manufacturing operations, we also encourage our customers in industry to share our philosophy.
“Our keynote speaker at the show, Nicolas Rouziou, who is a sales engineer at WEG, will present examples of energy efficient solutions and what can be offered for food-processing specific projects. During the talk, Rouziou will discuss the latest efficiency regulations, how manufacturers can adopt new motors thanks to certificate of energy (CEE) and explains the difference between a magnet and asynchronous motor.”
