WEG presents innovative drive solutions for the wood industry at this year's Ligna trade fair in Hannover

WEG will be showcasing its new universal geared motors in the WG20 series for torques up to 1,550 Nm.WEG, a leading global manufacturer of motor and drive technology, is presenting its new geared motors in the WG20 series, with torque ratings from 820 to 1,550 Nm. These geared motors add two new frame sizes to the product family, which presently includes helical, parallel-shaft and helical bevel gear units with sturdy pressure-cast aluminium housings and torque ratings from 50 to 600 Nm.
The new, high-performance gear units are made from grey cast iron, and like the other models in the series, they are available with energy efficiency ratings up to IE3. Standardised mounting dimensions allow them to be integrated into a wide variety of applications worldwide. Visitors to this year's Ligna in Hannover (22-26 May) can learn more about the new additions to the geared motor family at Stand B06 in Hall 16. Other featured items at the stand include low-profile motors for the woodworking industry from WEG subsidiary AKH. As a provider of drive technology, WEG is presenting their energy-efficient low voltage motors in the W22 series with energy efficiency ratings up to IE4 in both standard and explosion-proof versions, as well as automation products such as variable speed drives, soft starters and low-voltage switchgear.
The housings of the new WG20 geared motors are fabricated as monolithic structures, making them especially sturdy and torsionally stiff. In addition, the weight-optimised WG20 geared motors are highly energy efficient. The gear units feature a two or three-stage design for very low losses over a wide range of gear ratios. The redesigned tooth geometry also provides very precise power transmission over the entire speed range.

Their robustness and high-quality finishing make them an excellent choice for applications in demanding environments, as commonly found in the woodworking industry", says Klaus Sirrenberg, Managing Director of WEG subsidiary Watt Drive, which led WG20 geared motor development and now manufactures them in Markt Piesting (Austria).
Visitors to the WEG stand can also learn about the K1F and K2F low-profile motors from AKH, whose sturdiness makes them ideal for use in band saws and circular saws, sawmills and stone saws. These three-phase induction motors feature high power density and energy efficiency as well as maximum stability in precision applications.
