WEG provides energy efficient solutions at ADIPEC

WEG, a leading manufacturer of drive technology, automation equipment, power generation/ distribution solutions and electric motors, will be presenting a range of energy efficient drives and motors at this year's ADIPEC exhibition in Abu Dhabi, including its W22X flameproof motors.WEG is providing the highest levels of energy efficiency and protection in hazardous environments, highlighted by the W22X range of flameproof electric motors. ATEX/IECEx certified, the W22X motors are designed to cope with the rigours of aggressive and explosive atmospheres, while delivering the added benefits of high efficiency, (IE2/IE3 energy efficiency rating), minimised noise, vibration, and low operating temperature for increased reliability and safety.
Available for low, medium or high voltage supplies, the W22X product range covers 2, 4, 6, and 8- pole motors, across the power range from 160kW to 4,5MW. The W22X range is classified as equipment Group I (mines) and Group II (surface industries), for gases Group IIB and IIC. The range is suitable for use in Zone 1 - Gases and Vapours (G) and Zone 21 - Dust (D).
WEG's W22 IE3, IE4 and WQuattro motors are one of the largest ranges of energy efficient motors currently available. The W22 Super Premium three-phase induction motor exceeds the IE4 efficiency levels while WQuattro is an environmentally friendly hybrid motor that exceeds IE4 efficiency with a squirrel cage rotor fitted with permanent magnets, making it suitable for direct on line (DOL) start.
In addition to the W22 series, WEG will be showing a range of variable speed drives on its stand.
The CFW500 range is available in power ratings from 0.18-22kW for automation applications including centrifugal and process pumps, fans, compressors and conveyors, and has a built-in micro-PLC, which can be programmed to the IEC 61131-3 coding standard. It also comes with pre-programmed macros for a range of applications, for example positioning, timer and acceleration. It connects to all the major fieldbus systems including Profibus-DP, DeviceNet and CANopen.
The WEG CFW08 series of drives has the compact size of a microdrive with the full functionality of much larger drives in two versions: standard NEMA 1 and N4X Wash Down. It benefits from WEG's Space Vector Modulation for optimised motor control and quiet operation. It also offers users the performance benefits of 32- bit RISC microprocessor controlled pulse-width modulation output.
There will be the SSW06 and SSW07 soft starters on show and a MVW01 panel unit. WEG's SSW06 soft starters reduce starting torque in the powertrain by controlling the voltage delivered to the motor. The operator interface has a high visibility LED display while the keypad provides start, stop, and reset controls, as well as the programming interface. A copy function stores two sets of parameters and can be used to download parameters to other SSW06s for easy cloning of multiple starters. Integral bypass contacts are engaged once the motor is at full voltage to reduce power loss and heat dissipation.
