ABB appoints new head of UK motors and generators business unit

Dave Hawley is appointed as ABB's Local Business Unit Manager for Motors and Generators in the UK from 1st September 2014.The UK business unit is responsible for the sales of ABB's motors and generators through direct and indirect channels as well as ABB lifecycle services and tools across a wide range of commercial and industrial sectors.
Dave is qualified in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of South Wales, and has over 15 years' experience of the rotating equipment industry. He joins ABB from Sulzer Dowding and Mills where he was the General Manager of the formed coil division, and prior to that he held a Divisional Director position at Deritend.
Dave will report to Neil Ritchie, Local Division Manager, Discrete Automation and Motion and will be based at ABB's head office in Daresbury, Warrington.

"Higher power ratings and improved, more efficient designs in generator technology has seen ABB bring higher-powered solutions to customers in a smaller footprint, with tailored control packages allowing for maximum energy efficiency and maximum reliability.
"This is key in helping customers succeed and grow their businesses. This is a commitment I will continue to bring to customers consistently in my new role."
Dave replaces Ian Allan, who has now moved to a Regional Marketing and Sales Manager role for ABB's motors and generators division for Northern and Central Europe.
