Built-in brake adds holding power to Astrosyn stepper motor
28/01/2013 Astrosyn International Technology Ltd
Incorporating an integral electromagnetic brake, a new high performance hybrid stepper motor from Astrosyn International Technology holds its load securely in position when de-energised. The L709BR has an electromagnetic spring-loaded brake rated at 4.5 Nm that operates when the power is removed.Featuring neodymium magnetic materials, optimised geometry and tolerances, the L709BR operates at low voltage and current rating.
Typical applications are for the z axis of xyz axis positioning systems where the height needs to be held securely, such as in auto samplers, pick and place equipment and machine tool systems.
The minimum step angle for the NEMA size 34 unit is 1.8 degrees and the bipolar holding torque of the 2.8 A rated motor without the brake in operation is 4.8 Nm.
