Latest Veolia testing shows successful destruction up to 99.9999 % of 9 target PFAS in the UK, confirming its leadership in PFAS treatment

• Testing results show an achieved destruction rate efficiency of up to 99.9999% in line with internationally recognised test methods OTM 45 and OTM 50

• Latest results validates Veolia UK’s capability to safely eliminate 10,000 tonne stockpile of AFFF fire suppressants at its Ellesmere Port High Temperature Incineration facility 

• Forecasts predict the PFAS concentration and destruction industry will be worth $8bn by 2036
  
  Veolia has successfully completed comprehensive testing of nine target PFAS compounds at its High Temperature Incinerator (HTI) facility in the UK at Ellesmere Port, achieving destruction rate efficiencies of up to 99.9999% in line with internationally recognised Other Test Methods (OTM) 45 and OTM 50.

  The UK's February 2024 announcement to ban 3 legacy PFAS (PFOS, PFOA & PFHxS) aligns with the Stockholm Convention framework, implementing international commitments at the national level. However with the UK’s more targeted application-by-application approach to banning PFAS, it is likely more substances will be banned in the future. The latest  testing success positions Veolia perfectly to support the destruction of these wider class of compounds

  At Veolia’s Ellesmere Port facility in Cheshire, the company is already supporting the mandatory  destruction of tonnes of stockpiled AFFF fire suppressant foam, following its ban in July 2025,  helping to protect the country from potential groundwater contamination.

  The proper and secure disposal of PFAS concentrated waste is a key focus of Veolia’s GreenUp strategy  with a number of acquisitions made in the past year, growing the company's position in this nascent sector of waste disposal.
