New MD appointment at RMI signals global growth for Armstrong

Global pump and system provider Armstrong Fluid Technology, which includes group company RMI Pressure Systems Ltd. has announced the appointment of Mr. Cheng Zi as Managing Director for the RMI Industrial and Mining Business.Charles Armstrong, Chairman of the Group commented "I am pleased to announce that Cheng Zi has joined Armstrong in a newly created role. A seasoned executive with in-depth experience in the industrial and mining business, Cheng will lead the global expansion of the high pressure mining and industrial solutions sold under the RMI brand."
Based in Beijing, China, Cheng will lead all functional aspects of the global industrial and mining business, which includes the respective activities in Australia and the United States. Cheng will report to Lex van der Weerd, CEO of Armstrong, and will be supported by all global Armstrong business functions.
Following swiftly on from the appointment of Cheri Tian in the role of Industrial Sales Manager for China, Cheng Zi comes to Armstrong from General Electric's mining business in China and Mongolia. Prior to GE, he was with Cummins, where he successfully led a team selling power equipment for mining, earthmoving, construction, power generation and automotive applications.
In addition to his key market sector knowledge Cheng also gained valuable service and aftermarket experience in his roles at ECI-Metro Machinery, a Caterpillar dealer. Cheng holds a Bachelor of Industry Systems Engineering from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and is fluent in Mandarin and English.
RMI has a market leading position in China providing high pressure, high flow pump systems to the mining industry and huge potential for growth in other heavy industry sectors such as steel production where RMI pumps provide the hydraulic pressure for large presses and forges and water pressure for de-scaling operations.
