New Rapid Response Centre offers faster lead times for customers in Russia

Eberbach, Germany, 26th September 2012 - Cooper Crouse-Hinds, a leader in electrical products that provide safety, productivity, innovation and labour savings in hazardous, industrial and commercial environments, has opened its Rapid Response Centre in Moscow, which will offer customers in Russia faster lead times on a wide range of explosion-protected electrical products for harsh and hazardous environments, as well as rapid local assembly and customisation of products.The Rapid Response Centre, located in the 4th Ring in Moscow, was officially opened on 1st July 2012. The new centre will provide locally assembled products such as terminal boxes and control stations according to specific customer requirements. This will be supplemented by locally held stock of standard products and components including cable glands, plugs and receptacles, light fittings, start-stop and emergency stop push button control stations.
The centre will also hold stock of standard, modular products, which can be quickly customised to meet the specific requirements of the local Russian market. All products supplied by the Rapid Response Centre are manufactured and tested to the latest European Standards for hazardous gas and dust environments in accordance with the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC and with the latest equivalent IEC standards for gas and dust.
As a member of the BRIC economies, Russia is currently the largest producer of oil in the world. Therefore, as a leading supplier of explosion-protected electrical products to the oil and gas markets worldwide, Cooper Crouse-Hinds recognises that the Russian market is a key one in terms of sales growth potential.
As Paul Wielsch, Market Development Manager Local Assembly at Cooper Crouse-Hinds GmbH states: "Russia has always been a very important market for us, but the opening of the new Rapid Response Centre will improve our services significantly by providing customers in Russia with local stock of standard products, typically available on 5 to 10-day lead times for small volume orders. This will be backed up by local assembly and our ability to quickly customise these products to suit specific customer applications, particularly to meet the needs of the oil and gas, chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries."
Like other BRIC economies, Russia has a complex set of customs rules and regulations governing the import of goods to the country. The Rapid Response Centre in Moscow will help simplify these import procedures, resulting in faster lead times for customers. As Paul Wielsch explains: "When importing goods to Russia, there are certain barriers to entry. Russia has a different set of customs regulations, as well as export duties that need to be paid, which often requires the services of a customs broker. Often, these processes can delay the supply of goods to customers in that country. For example, if we ship a fully assembled product such as a terminal box and enclosure to Russia, it will cost more and is likely to be delayed by the customs process. This complex set of procedures can often delay the delivery of our goods by at least one week."
In the past, all orders from Russian customers were dealt with directly by Cooper Crouse-Hinds Gmbh, but the Moscow Rapid Response Centre, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cooper Crouse-Hinds, will ensure that these procedures are simplified, resulting in faster lead times for customers. "The objective is to deliver locally assembled or customised products within 5 to 10 days, or much faster for off-the-shelf standard products and components. We now have a more responsive, reactive solution to meet the short term demands of the Russian market."
